In an effort to make future disaster assistance more accessible, the Florida SBDC Network implemented the Mobile Business Assistance (MAC) Program with funds from the Governor's Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development in time for the 2006 hurricane season. The MACs are two 38' RVs equipped with laptops, printers, satellite communications, business libraries, supplies and more.

2006 MAC
Kick-Off

In the event of a disaster, they will be deployed out in the field for on-the-spot disaster recovery assistance. Tents and tables will be set up outside where SBDC Certified Business Analsyts will provide counseling and assistance needed for clients to work through the forms and applications that disaster victims must manage in the recovery process. During other times of the year, the FSBDCs will partner with economic development organizations to provide outreach to some of Florida’s more rural areas.

Since the kick-off of the Program in May 2006, the Florida SBDCs have been hosting events and partnering with other economic development organizations throughout the state to highlight the new MAC Program and plan rural strategies.
