Pensacola, FL: Representative Mike Davis, Chairman Todd Gates, Tammie Nemecek, Dan Regelski (SBDC at FGCU Regional Director), and Board Member Kevin Taylor enjoyed a visit on Wednesday, November 16 by Lt. Governor Toni Jennings. Her visit was highlighted by the distribution of 9 checks totaling $192,000 to businesses that were impacted by Hurricane Wilma.

To date, the Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University, the Economic Development Council of Collier County and the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program Committee members have helped to provide nearly $500,000 in Bridge Loans to 23 effected businesses. Several of those companies are located in Chokoloskee, Everglades City, Marco Island and East Naples.

David George of By Lands Management was joined by his wife, Margaret, and Brian Lynott of Colonial Bank as they received their $25,000 check from Lt. Governor Toni Jennings. David is the owner of a hotel in Everglades City. He stated the check was going directly to the contractor to begin repairs on his facility.

The state's Emergency Bridge Loan Program is designed to provide a source of expedient cash flow to businesses physically damaged during a major catastrophe, enabling them to quickly begin repairs and replace destroyed inventory. These short-term loans are intended to "bridge the gap" between the time a major catastrophe hits and
when a business has secured other resources, such as profits from revived a business, payment of insurance claims or secured longer-term loans.

L-R: Lt. Governor Toni Jennings, David and
Margaret George, and Brian Lynott
