Pensacola, FL: At the 25th Anniversary Celebration and National Conference of the Association of Small Business Development Centers (ASBDC) in Baltimore, Maryland, September 2005, Kenneth R. Stephanz was named the State Star of the Florida Small Business Development Center Network (FSBDCN).
"Selected through a competitive process that evaluates the overall contribution of our professionals to the local, regional and statewide small business community, the award signifies that Ken is our leading light—for others to emulate and still others to strive for. We are very proud of Ken’s accomplishments and that he is a member of the Florida SBDC Network," said Jerry Cartwright, FSBDCN State Director. |
Ken says his motto is: "Whatever you do, be the best you can be—World Class." With a few years under his management belt, Ken also believes that Seniors Can Make a Difference. That experience and Ken’s host of special skills and expertise have made a difference for many small business clients at the SBDC at Indian River Community College's Vero Beach office. In the four years he has been with the SBDC as a Certified Business Analyst, he counseled over 450 small business clients, was responsible for over $7.4 million in small business financing, and has been a sought-after public speaker and trainer. Assisting small businesses with both their startup efforts and ongoing business activities, Ken was the recipient of the prestigious FSBDCN's Certified Business Analyst (CBA) Impact Award in 2002. In short, he is an exemplary performer, making a significant contribution to the SBDC program and showing a strong commitment to small business in Indian River, Okeechobee, St. Lucie and Martin Counties.
Although honored with the award, Ken says his success is due to the professional colleagues that surround him in the FSBDCN, because their efforts and skill make it all possible.
Each year, the ASBDC recognizes an outstanding employee from each of the 63 SBDC programs as a State Star. The State Stars are recognized and honored at a private reception and at a banquet during the National Conference.
